Roberta “Bobbi” Giordano was called to get involved in rescue at an early age — her first animal intervention was at age nine!
In 1998, she established Bobbi and the Strays as a 100% non-profit, no-kill animal rescue organization. Since the beginning, we have been dedicated to rescuing animals from the streets, overcrowded shelters, neglect and abuse situations and abandonment. We provide extensive medical interventions for the animals we help, including spay/neuter, vaccination and care for special needs animals, among other forms of help.
Over time, our staff, along with the help of our valued volunteers and donors, have been able to expand the impact of the organization in a number of important ways that extend into the community and among local businesses. Our programs include educating the public to prevent animal abuse and neglect, raising awareness of the importance of spaying and neutering, and providing help in the community for low-income and elderly pet owners. We are proud members of the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC Animals.
Working in myriad venues across New York City and Long Island, including shelters, communities, schools and other public venues, our organization strives to improve the lives of people and animals through adoption, education and advocacy.
On our website you will find more about what we do, how to adopt a dog or cat, and how to get involved in our life-saving work through volunteering or donation.
“Our main goal is to find permanent, loving homes for all the dogs and cats that we rescue. We have a guaranteed return policy on all adoptions – because our goal is to place animals into good homes for life.”
